Synopsis

It’s Oscar night in Hollywood and among the attendees is none other than oddball character actor turned amateur detective Sammy Lucas – here to present the award for Best Original Screenplay. Lucas was hoping to spend the night meeting his filmmaking heroes, but when the host turns up dead backstage(!), Sammy is not only tasked with catching the culprit, but in order to not derail the festivities he must also step in as host and keep the show going!

Description of Gene Holland (The Producer):

The Oscars' unscrupulous producer. With ratings at an all-time low, Holland attempted to draw attention to the ceremony through controversy, hiring an infamous late-night comic as host. When the opening monologue left the entire theater silently uncomfortable, Holland realized that his ratings had dipped even lower. Thankfully, the host turned up dead backstage, bludgeoned in the back of the head. Determined to salvage the broadcast, Holland tasks the Sammy Lucas with not only finding the culprit, but also taking over as host for the night… a job which Sammy proves to be surprisingly capable of.
