Synopsis

It’s Oscar night in Hollywood and among the attendees is none other than oddball character actor turned amateur detective Sammy Lucas – here to present the award for Best Original Screenplay. Lucas was hoping to spend the night meeting his filmmaking heroes, but when the host turns up dead backstage(!), Sammy is not only tasked with catching the culprit, but in order to not derail the festivities he must also step in as host and keep the show going!

Description of Brion Collins (The Wannabe ):

An actor-director and perpetual awards season bridesmaid. His latest Oscar bid was a stripped-down character study bordering on a one-man show that was cooly received by critics. They did, however, praise the technical aspects of the film and a scene stealing performance by actress Kitty Mills, who received the film’s only acting nomination. Collins and Sammy bond over their mutual feelings of being ignored for their true talents.
