Synopsis

Ripped from the arms of his friends and family in District 12 to fight in the deadly Hunger Games, young Haymitch Abernathy must begin training to fight several kids from other Districts in Panem, in order to survive the deadly games. Little does Haymitch know, however, that if he wins the Games, the victory will cost him dearly...

Description of Woof Sabbard (15th victor, District 8):

A middle-aged victor at this time, Woof has been a dedicated member of the underground rebellion for years even before this, the 2nd Quarter Quell. His Games were one of the most brutal of the early years-involving strangling several tributes with ropes-and left him dependent on a mixture of alcohol and painkillers for many years. Due to the early death of Roger Abernathy, his son Haymitch found a father figure of sorts in Woof.
