Description of Elias Abernathy (Haymitch's brother):

Elias is Haymitch's younger brother, and views him like the father he never knew. Out of everyone in District 12 that Haymitch knows, Elias is most hopeful that his older brother will survive. However, when President Snow arrives to the Abernathy home to have dinner with the family after Haymitch's victory, Elias is the first to die from his own food, which Snow purposefully poisoned. Upon his return, the first thing Haymitch sees is Elias's dead body, in which he cries out for his brother to wake up. But when this doesn't occur, Haymitch breaks and starts crying in the living room.
