Synopsis

GUN have been hunting down one certain mercenary working for Eggman since day one: Zero the Jackal, along with his team Jackal Squad. Zero has a new assignment from the surprisingly-alive Dr Robotnik of acquiring a powerful gem capable of warping realities and time itself: the Phantom Ruby. GUN sent Shadow and Team Dark to chase the Jackal Squad as they go to pull off the murderous heist. After losing his entire team, and a battle to Shadow, Zero had been mocked and insulted for being weak and not being worth the effort. When he finally obtained the Phantom Ruby, he volunteers to be Eggman's guinea pig for his experiment. Eventually, Zero will become the most powerful enemy Mobius has ever seen: Infinite.

Description of Commander Topaz:

Topaz tells Shadow and Team Dark about Jackal Squad and their exploits. Every time a GUN squadron goes to confront them, at least one or more agents (maybe all on the squad) get killed. Topaz was an agent hunting them down herself with her secret boyfriend (secret because of the agent love rule) and their team. But only she survived. Worse yet, he was going to give Topaz an engagement ring and even had a resignation paper, showing he wanted to quit GUN and live a life with Topaz. A life he never got. Topaz hated Jackal Squad ever since.
