Synopsis

Harrowing tensions explode in a series of events that could happen anywhere, to anyone, just as they do to John Moore—whose days of freedom run out, who is stripped of his possessions, his courage, and his hopes, one by one, by the ominous presence of an insidious stranger impossible to resist.

Description of Dr. Hastings:

The town doctor - a man from New York who desired the more relaxed country way of living, much to the chagrin of his wife. He is observant, but clinical and quiet. While he appears to be diligent about not getting involved in the growing war between Perly and his officers, and the local townsfolk, he sees everything going on and makes note of it. Aged in his mid-sixties.
