(First appeared in Action Comics #252 in 1959 and was created by Otto Binder and Al Plastino). Kara Zor-El was the older cousin of Kal-El/Superman who was sent to Earth to protect him. However, her pod went off course and she went into suspended animation and when she had finally arrived on Earth, her cousin was already Superman. Eventually, Kara followed in his footsteps in becoming Supergirl.
