Batman (Kurt Russell) and his ward Nightwing (Henry Thomas) formerly Robin faces off against two foes: the schizophrenic, horribly scarred former District Attorney Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face (Al Pacino), and the Riddler (Robin Williams), a intelligent psychotic man obsessed with finding out who the secret identity of Batman is. As the caped crusader also deals with tortured memories of his parents' murder, he has a new romance, with psychologist Chase Meridian (Rene Russo). Bruce, Dick and Alfred also take in a young boy named Tim Drake (Joey Cramer) after his parents are murdered by Two Face and than finds out their alter egos who wants to help them fight against their foes, hesitate at first Bruce and Dick train Tim and takes upon the mantle as the new Robin.
