Fisk promises a fortune in exchange for Spider-Man's capture, turning Marko into a crucial piece in his strategy. As the Sandman oscillates between seeking money to save his daughter and personal redemption, Peter Parker finds himself entangled in a web of moral complexities and escalating threats. In the end, with Marko discovering through his ex-wife that Penny's illness has no cure, Marko also discovers that he was being manipulated by Fisk into committing various barbarities, with him helping Peter but the epic battle revolving around Spider-Man and Kingpin, after the truth was told and it came out in the Daily Bugle that the current mayor is a corrupt criminal
