Description of John Blackthorne:
An adventurous English sailor who sails for the Dutch. His arrival in Japan causes an outrage among the powerful warlords and the Portuguese traders and missionaries in the country. He eventually becomes one of Toranaga's closest allies, and grows fascinated of Japanese culture thanks to Mariko who becomes his lover.
