Synopsis

A maverick British officer leads a squad of crack shots on special operations in the Peninsular War against Napoleon's occupying forces in Spain and Portugal. Lt Richard Sharpe has been promoted from the ranks for saving the life of Sir Arthur Wellesley. Sent behind enemy lines, he meets a beautiful female guerilla.

Description of Colonel William Lawford:

The son of a Scottish mother and English father and raised near Portsmouth in Hampshire. An elegant dandy, monied, fashionable, aristocratic and able to buy his promotions. Forged a friendship with Sharpe that surpassed rank and class while stuck together in India on a mission. He taught Sharpe how to read and write while in a dungeon.
