Synopsis

"Power to the People" is an electrifying biopic that delves deep into the life and legacy of Huey P. Newton, co-founder of the Black Panther Party. From his upbringing in poverty-stricken Oakland to his rise as a revolutionary icon, this film chronicles Newton's journey through adversity, activism, and the pursuit of justice. In the turbulent era of the 1960s, Huey P. Newton emerged as a towering figure in the fight against racial oppression and inequality. As a young man, he witnessed firsthand the injustices faced by Black Americans in his community. Determined to make a difference, Newton, alongside Bobby Seale, founded the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, igniting a movement that would challenge the status quo and inspire generations to come.

Description of Angela Davis:

Angela Yvonne Davis is an American Marxist and feminist political activist, philosopher, academic, and author; she is a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Davis was a longtime member of the Communist Party USA (CPUSA) and a founding member of the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism (CCDS). She was active in movements such as the Occupy movement and the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions campaign.
