A sequel to the story "Pierre and Esmeralda" and an alternate ending to the novel "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". During the Battle of Notre Dame and the beggars' attempt to recapture Esmeralda, Frollo along with Pierre sneak in from the back of the cathedral and lead Esmeralda out. Just as Gringoire was about to escape and Frollo was about to take Esmeralda with him, he suddenly decides to save Esmeralda. He renders the archdeacon unconscious and shouts to Esmeralda that he loves her and wants to be with her for the rest of his life. Esmeralda realizes that she loves only him and together they flee outside Paris. After a few years, a beautiful daughter is born to them.
