Synopsis

Earlier part of the story will tell the story of Tadayoshi, a young man aspiring to be a samurai like his deceased father, but decided to become a priest at a shinto shrine due to family traditions. His family was struck with debt and most often had confrontations with debt collectors who mercilessly beats him up, to the point where Tadayoshi starts sword training to avenge himself, but he keeps holding back due to being conflicted of being a normal civilian or a samurai. That is until Tadayoshi meets a beautiful girl named Maya, who appears during night. Later, Maya was revealed to be a vampire like creature called Rasetsu. Maya advises Tadayoshi to be strong and fight for what he thinks is right. However, soon he discovers that she is a vampire, and he feels fear and love for the girl. Part 2's later half would be a continuation of where the story left off at part 1, with a mysterious group going after Maya's blood for further research of an immortality experiment, and Tadayoshi gradually become stronger and won't hesitate to fight after the advice that Maya and Kyō gave to him in order to bring her back at all costs.

Description of Maya:

It is unknown when she was born, but Tadayoshi had known her before he became a priest at the shinto shrine. She was described as a very beautiful woman, more beautiful than any japanese woman of that era. At 170cm, she was tall for a japanese woman at that time, almost as tall as Tadayoshi himself. Revealing herself to be a Rasetsu, her true form still resembles her human appearance, but her hair color turns white and her eyes glows red. She made a blood pact with Tadayoshi and the two became closer as time goes on.

  • theonewithda_gun More about the character: a few years ago before the events of the series, a young Maya met a lone wandering ronin who was hunted down by a government. From that point on, the ronin eagerly agreed to become Maya's caretaker and provider, going out regularly to find victims to murder and "bleed" for Maya.

    • theonewithda_gun   They've gone through many years doing this in different areas of japan until Maya reaches her 20s and stopped aging. Still, the old ronin wants to serve Maya by providing blood to her by killing innocent people and gave their blood to her.

    • theonewithda_gun   Maya met Tadayoshi at Edo, when Tadayoshi caught her wandering around near his family's shrine when he was cleaning up the leaves. Tadayoshi later found out that she lives in an area not far from the shrine. Tadayoshi took an immediate interest in Maya, but she is hesitant to form any new relationships because of her true nature. However, she begins to bond with the young priest despite her reluctance to do so, causing them to spend more and more time together, much to the old man's chagrin

    • theonewithda_gun   One thing that Tadayoshi finds weird about Maya is that she always come by during night time and not showing up during the day. But overall, he immediately took an interest in Maya because he cannot believe that such beautiful woman exist.

  • theonewithda_gun As for her physical appearance: she has long dark brown hair (almost black in color) and pale white skin, and is described as having a very beautiful face that no other japanese woman of that time has. At 170cm, she was tall for a japanese woman at that time, almost as tall as Tadayoshi himself.

Her finger nails turn into claws and she grow sharp fangs from her teeth. Although when she goes berserk, her skin turns even paler and the sclera of her eyes turns black and her fingernails become an even longer set of claws. In this state, Maya is unable to recognize friend or foe and will attack indiscriminately, killing everything in sight.

  • theonewithda_gun Tadayoshi gave Maya a uniquely shaped sword taken from a weapon storage near his family shrine as a present for her. The shape of the sword is that of a traditional katana modified in the base of the blade in the form of an "S" letter, similar of those of the ancient kopesh or sickle-sword. The rest of the blade have an extra "Hi", started in the S shaped curve.
