After the controls on the Milano malfunction, the guardians crash on the planet Halfworld, a planet inhabited by half human, half animal creatures, and the home of Rocket. Wal Russ discovers the Guardians and tries to make sense of their presence and reunited with his old friend Rocket. When the rest of the team awakens, Wal explains that Halfworld is at a constant state of threat from an insidious mole named Judson Jakes, who seeks the fabled Gideon’s Bible, which he believes will help him contact his master Galactus and allow Halfworld to be consumed in Judson’s quest for domination. The Guardians fly to the Cuckoos nest, where they learn that Judson not only stole Gideon’s Bible, but also kidnapped Lylla, Rocket’s old flame.
