Synopsis

Flight into the Abyss is a gripping six-part biopic miniseries that explores the tumultuous life and work of Joseph Roth, one of the most enigmatic and insightful writers of the early 20th century. Set against the backdrop of war-torn Europe and the crumbling Austro-Hungarian Empire, the series delves into Roth's experiences as a soldier, journalist, and novelist- capturing both the spirit of his literary genius and the personal demons that shaped his tragic journey. The miniseries follows Roth from the early years in Galicia, a region fraught with ethnic tensions, through his rise as a celebrated writer in Vienna and Berlin. Description of Walter Benjamin:

Walter Bendix Schönflies Benjamin was a German-Jewish philosopher, cultural critic, media theorist, and essayist. An eclectic thinker who combined elements of German idealism, Romanticism, Western Marxism, Jewish mysticism, and neo-Kantianism, Benjamin made influential contributions to aesthetic theory, literary criticism, and historical materialism. He was associated with the Frankfurt School and also maintained formative friendships with thinkers such as playwright Bertolt Brecht and Kabbalah scholar Gershom Scholem.
