Brilliant but socially awkward and sometimes withdrawn, Reed Richards grew up without many friends (or at least without many people who thought he was more than a weirdo who raided junkyards for knick knacks). But all that changed when he met Ben Grimm in high school, starting a friendship that followed them to college and later to Storm Aeronautics. When his long dreamed of Excelsior project hit a wall and led to Reed and his most trusted friends to commandeer the craft, the events that followed might have required the usually humble-to-a-fault Reed to accept the burden of leadership of his little found family unit. But the resourceful Richards has proven nothing if not flexible.
