Hamato Yoshi (also known as Splinter) is the son and heir of Hamato Yūta, the leader of the Hamato Clan whose rivalry with the Foot Clan came to an end when he was a child. During a confrontation with the Kraang, Hamato Yoshi was mutated into a mutant brown rat upon coming into contact with a rat prior to the conflict. Since then ever since alluding the Kraang, he trained the Turtles in ninjutsu and raised them as his sons.
