Synopsis

The first film of a new Batman franchise. It is about a young and inexperienced Bruce Wayne, who is just learning to become Batman and fight crime in Gotham with the help of his butler, Alfred Pennyworth. It has been less than ten years since Bruce's parents were murdered in front of him when he was a boy. His suit and gadgets are still in their infancy. It has a dark and gritty noir tone to it. The main villains are Victor Zsasz and Carmine Falcone, with David Cain as a minor antagonist. Batman is investigating the murders and crimes of Zsasz, hunting him relentlessly with the reluctant help of Commissioner Jim Gordon, Detective Harvey Bullock, and DA Harvey Dent. Bruce transforms into the Batman we know by the end of the film.

Description of Salvatore Maroni:

Salvatore Maroni is a mobster in Gotham City and the main rival of fellow crime boss Carmine Falcone, who he is trying to overthrow as the top criminal in the city. He inherited the Maroni crime organization from his father, Luigi 'Big Lou' Maroni. At one point, he had an affair with Falcone's daughter, Sofia. Maroni is trying to forge an alliance with corrupt councilman and aspiring mayor Rupert Thorne in hopes of destroying Falcone and the new threats to his empire, Batman and District Attorney Harvey Dent.
