Synopsis

The first film of a new Batman franchise. It is about a young and inexperienced Bruce Wayne, who is just learning to become Batman and fight crime in Gotham with the help of his butler, Alfred Pennyworth. It has been less than ten years since Bruce's parents were murdered in front of him when he was a boy. His suit and gadgets are still in their infancy. It has a dark and gritty noir tone to it. The main villains are Victor Zsasz and Carmine Falcone, with David Cain as a minor antagonist. Batman is investigating the murders and crimes of Zsasz, hunting him relentlessly with the reluctant help of Commissioner Jim Gordon, Detective Harvey Bullock, and DA Harvey Dent. Bruce transforms into the Batman we know by the end of the film.

Description of Rachel Dawes:

A childhood friend of Bruce Wayne, she has grown up to be a crusading lawyer in Gotham, working alongside DA Harvey Dent to bring justice to the city. She is now involved romantically with Bruce, but her desire to have a child clashes with Bruce, who does not want any distraction as he begins his journey as Batman, which she is unaware of. She has a strong partnership with Dent, who is secretly in love with her.
