The first film of a new Batman franchise. It is about a young and inexperienced Bruce Wayne, who is just learning to become Batman and fight crime in Gotham with the help of his butler, Alfred Pennyworth. It has been less than ten years since Bruce's parents were murdered in front of him when he was a boy. His suit and gadgets are still in their infancy. It has a dark and gritty noir tone to it. The main villains are Victor Zsasz and Carmine Falcone, with David Cain as a minor antagonist. Description of Bruce Wayne (Batman):

The son of Thomas and Martha Wayne, whose murders he witnessed as a child, which helped shape his future as Batman, the masked crusader who protects Gotham from criminals and villains. He is just starting out as Batman, young and inexperienced, guided by his father figure and butler, Alfred Pennyworth. He has romantic ties to Rachel Dawes and is forging an alliance with Lieutenant Jim Gordon, Detective Harvey Bullock, and DA Harvey Dent. He is usually somber and there is a darkness within him from the trauma he experienced due to watching the deaths of his parents. He doubts his ability to fight crime and to protect Gotham as Batman.
