1924, a grisly suicide is reported in the Louisianan Derceto manor. The victim: Jeremy Hartwood. Hung from the neck. Nobody seems to be too surprised as there had been rumors about the mansion being haunted by evil spirits, and soon after the incident is forgotten.
Private Investigator Edward Carnby is hired by an antique collector to bring a piano from said mansion to him. Seeing as he's behind on his bill and rent payments, he agrees to to the job for a very hefty payment.
