Being "judged" for having personal preferences?

I don't wanna namedrop anyone in particular, and I don't wanna turn this into such big of an issue, but I just can't stand to express my opinion.

There was this user who just, idk, kinda judgy or something?

She was kind of judging and dictating on what I should like and what I should dislike.

For example, I casted Rena Ryuugu from Higurashi as among of the fictional chara that fits me the most (she's my no.1 fav). Then, this user came in and votes 'NO' on Rena but voted 'YES' on another without even giving a counter suggestion or any reason why.

It's as if she was saying "Ugh! Why her?? She suck! Himiko Toga better!"

For the record, I like both characters, but Rena resonates with me more. I feel like that person was telling me that I should like Himiko Toga instead of Rena.

It happened again, on another story, where I suggested Misa Amane (Death Note) as one of my favs among others, this person did it again, voting 'NO' on Misa but vote 'YES' on Bungo Stray Dogs ' Dazai (though knowing Death Note, I can understand why ppl don't like Misa).

Well, the point is, WHY should you have to police what other people should like or dislike?

I feel like this was an example of getting mad at someone for enjoying more things than you do (I don't think this person even knew Higurashi), or getting a hissy fit at someone for liking something that you don't like?

No, I'm not trying to say "you suck if you didn't like what I like!", I am saying that I have my own preferences and the right to like or dislike a fictional character.

But idk, is this just me being sensitive and overreacting?? I just wanna know your thoughts on whether anyone here experienced this kind of thing.

Well, imo, ppl CAN and ALLOWED to have preferences. You can enjoy stuff that others don't know or like, especially niche stuff.
