Greetings fellow movie enthusiasts!
I’ve been thinking about how iconic “Mrs. Doubtfire” is, and I’d love to explore a fresh take on this heartwarming classic.
Imagine a gender-swapped version where the lead character, instead of a father disguising himself as a nanny, this time it
would be a mother who transforms into a male persona to spend time with her children who are in custody of her ex-husband.
As for casting choices, I can visualize either Tina Fey or Maya Rudolph as the lead role of Denise Hillard, a talented but
out of work actress who decides to go undercover as Mr. Doubtfire, an elderly male nanny/butler so she can be close to her children.
I also think that Amy Poehler, Leah Remini, Melissa McCarthy and even Nia Vardalos would also make fantastic choices for the role of
Denise.
I can imagine either Matt Damon or Tobey Maguire as Denise's ex-husband Martin who is a successful businessman.
His love interest is Stacey Dunmeyer, who is also an intern at his company. I can imagine either Anne Hathaway, Constance Wu, Jennifer Aniston, Rachel Bloom or Christina Ricci playing the role of Stacey.
This gender swapped version should also feature cameos from the original film. Sally Field could play the role of Mrs. Sellner
and Pierce Brosnan could play Mr. Lundy. Mara Wilson could play the role of a teacher or receptionist at Martin's company.
Would you like to see Chris Columbus return as director for this remake? Or who do you think should direct this version?
